Three types of internships are available to work on the POLENET project. Each runs from approximately mid-June to mid-August; pays a stipend and also pays for room & board and travel; and provides for participation in national science conferences. Successful applicants are eligible to participate for multiple summers in POLENET research. These programs are designed to increase educational access for students from diverse backgrounds. Students from racial and ethnic minority groups and low-income, first-generation students are especially encouraged to apply.

Requirements
- Completed sophomore year
- 3.0 or better GPA
- U.S. Citizen/Resident
- Applicants from groups that are underrepresented in the academy including racial and ethnic minorities, low-income and first-generation students, and non-traditional students are encourage to apply

Students studying in any of the following areas are encouraged to apply for participation in POLENET internships:
- Geology
- Geography
- Mathematics
- Physics
- Computer science
- Engineering
- Science Education
- Web Design
- Graphics Animators
Internship Summary
- Eight week program to be hosted at The Ohio State University in Columbus, OH beginning in mid-June 2010
- $2000 to $3000 stipend
- Travel, room and board provided
- Paid expenses to a National Conference
- Work in a professional laboratory with world renowned scientists
