Who is eligible to enroll?

This course is targeted at individuals who are working on (or will soon start working on) GIA modelling, or topics directly related to GIA modelling. While the course is aimed at graduate students and early career scientists, all interested parties are encouraged to apply regardless of age or experience level. A basic introduction to the fundamentals and applications of GIA modelling will be provided, and no previous modelling experience is required.

How do I apply?

The application window has closed.  Individuals who have submitted an application will be notified by email of their acceptance status.  It is anticipated that email announcements will be distributed by the end of April.

Financial Support

Financial support for the training school is provided by the National Science Foundation (NSF) through the Antarctica Network (ANET) component of the Polar Earth Observing Network (POLENET) project, the Scientific Community on Antarctic Research (SCAR) through the Solid Earth Responses and influences on Cryospheric Evolution (SERCE) program, the International Association of Cryospheric Sciences (IACS), the European Geosciences Union (EGU), and DTU Space.

There is no registration fee. We have secured sufficient funds to be able to offer at least partial travel and subsistence support for all attendees.

Logistical Information

This information is provided to help you estimate the cost of attending the training school. Please do not book travel or accommodation until you have received confirmation that you have a place in the training school.  Shortlisting will be completed around the end of April.

Transportation from Arlanda airport to Gävle:
The most convenient and recommended way to travel from Arlanda airport to Gävle is by train. 

Train - Long-distance trains by SJ railway stop at the “Arlanda C” underground station directly below the center of Sky City, which is located between Terminals 4 and 5. The train journey takes approximately one hour. The safest way to purchase tickets is before you leave home. You can purchase tickets and view time tables here: www.sj.se/en/home.html#/ You do not need to print the ticket, simply save the PDF on your phone, tablet or laptop, and show it when requested.  Long-distance trains do NOT depart from the same station as Arlanda Express trains to Stockholm City. 

Transportation from Stockholm to Gävle:
Train & coach - Long-distance trains depart several times per day to Gävle. The journey takes approximately 75-90 minutes. Most of the trains also stop at Arlanda airport. There are also long-distance coaches, taking about 2 hours to Gävle. Trains as well as long-distance coaches depart from Stockholm Central Station (“Stockholm C”).

Travel within Gävle:
Pre-booked hotels are a 5 to 10-minute walk from the “Gävle C” (Centralstationen) railway station and a 10 to 15-minute walk away from Lantmäteriet. The address to Lantmäteriet is Lantmäterigatan 2C, see map below.
